In January 2015, MizzouRec premiered two new fitness spaces. These spaces presented a creative challenge: producing the requested retro-themed (boxing gym, garage) pair of spaces that were still modern enough to attract our main audience, Mizzou students. The two spaces are connected by a garage door, and can be used together by Boot Camp classes provided by zouLIFE Personal Training.
Clark's Boxing Gym (named after Clark Hetherington, Mizzou's first athletic director) features BoxMaster® by Star Trac and is the home of a brand-new Boxing Class. Students purchase semesterly memberships to use the space.
Stalcup's Garage (named after Wilbur "Sparky" Stalcup, a former Mizzou basketball coach) is a functional fitness space that features TRX Suspension Training systems, kettlebells, medicine balls, resistance bands, dip bars, battle ropes, and box jumps. This space is open to all MizzouRec members during Open Gym sessions.

Signs went up when both spaces were still under construction. Students quickly showed their interest.

We wanted Clark's to have a really striking look, and empowering feel. One of our very own Team Mizzou student employees, and TigerX instructor, posed for a grueling photoshoot that produced a vinyl installation that is the focal point of the space.
A wall full of motivational phrases, encouragement, and MizzouRec values frames the doorway.
We didn't want this BoxMaster® to be left out of the decorative fun, so a scaled-back textural photo frames it's spot in the room.

Stalcup's Garage has a more utilitarian, garage feel to it and features vintage hubcaps and tin signs.
